Which insurances do you accept?

We accept most major insurances including Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicare AARP, BCBS and BCBS Advantage, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna and Cigna International, Humana, Molina, HAP, Health Plan of Michigan, and Align Networks. Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. Michigan allows direct access to physical therapy — you can book directly with us without a physician referral. Some insurances may still require one for coverage, which we'll verify before your first visit.

What if I don't have insurance?

We accept cash, check, and credit card. Call us for self-pay rates — they're often more affordable than people expect.

Are co-pays due at the visit?

Yes. All deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance are due at the time of service unless other written arrangements have been made with your therapist.

What to expect on your first visit (evaluation walkthrough)

Your first appointment is a full evaluation with one of our licensed physical therapists — about 60 minutes, one-on-one. Here's exactly how it goes:

1. Check-in (5 min) — Arrive 10–15 minutes early. Front desk verifies your insurance, collects your ID and any forms you completed online, and walks you back to a private treatment room.

2. Conversation with your therapist (10–15 min) — Your therapist sits down with you to understand what's going on: when symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, your medical and surgical history, medications, prior treatment, and — most importantly — what you want to get back to (work, a sport, picking up grandkids, sleeping through the night).

3. Hands-on physical evaluation (20–25 min) — Movement and posture screening, range of motion and strength testing, joint mobility checks, special orthopedic tests, and palpation of the affected area. This is how we identify the actual driver of your pain, not just where it hurts.

4. Diagnosis & plan of care (5–10 min) — Your therapist explains what they found in plain language, the working diagnosis, expected timeline, recommended visit frequency, and what success looks like. You'll have time to ask questions.

5. Treatment starts the same day (10–15 min) — You don't go home empty-handed. We begin with some initial manual therapy or modalities, teach you 2–3 starter exercises, and review activity do's and don'ts.

6. Scheduling — Front desk books your next visits before you leave.

What to bring: photo ID, insurance card, list of medications, any imaging (MRI/X-ray) reports if you have them, and comfortable clothes you can move in. What to wear: loose shorts for knee/hip/back, a tank or loose shirt for shoulder/neck. Plan to be at the clinic for the full hour.

Will I see the same therapist every visit?

That's our goal. Continuity of care is one of the biggest reasons patients choose us over big-box clinics, so we do our best to keep you with the same therapist throughout your plan of care. On the rare occasion scheduling requires a swap, your full chart and progress notes go with you so the next session picks up exactly where you left off.

Many patients notice improvement within 2–4 visits, though it depends on the condition. Acute injuries often resolve in 4–6 visits; chronic conditions usually take 6–12. Your therapist will discuss a realistic timeline at your evaluation and adjust as you progress.

We treat the full range of conditions you'd expect at a physical therapy clinic — back and neck pain, sciatica, sports and overuse injuries, post-surgical rehab (joint replacements, rotator cuff, ACL, laminectomy), arthritis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, knee pain, balance issues, TMJ, headaches, auto and work injuries, and chronic pain. Do you treat chronic or long-term pain?

Yes — chronic and persistent pain (including long-standing back pain, sciatica, arthritis, and post-injury pain that hasn't fully resolved) is one of the most common things we see. Treatment usually combines hands-on manual therapy, targeted strengthening and mobility work, and movement education so you can manage flare-ups on your own. Many patients who'd been told to 'just live with it' see meaningful relief within a few visits.

Can you help with sports injuries?

Absolutely. We treat strains, sprains, tendonitis, ligament injuries, and post-surgical sports rehab (ACL, meniscus, rotator cuff, Tommy John, and more). Programs are built around your sport so you return stronger, not just healed.

What about after surgery?

We routinely treat patients after joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, laminectomy, and other orthopedic procedures. We coordinate with your surgeon and follow their post-op protocol.

Do you treat post-surgical and orthopedic patients?

Accepted Answer

Yes — orthopedic and post-surgical rehab is one of the largest parts of our practice. Total knee and hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstructions, meniscus repairs, laminectomies, and shoulder/elbow procedures. We follow your surgeon's protocol and progress you safely back to full function.

Do you offer manual therapy and hands-on treatment?

Yes — hands-on manual therapy is a core part of how we treat. Joint mobilization, soft-tissue work, myofascial release, and trigger-point therapy are paired with targeted exercise so the gains you make in the clinic actually stick at home.

Do you offer balance and fall-prevention programs?

Yes. We work with older adults and anyone recovering from injury or surgery to rebuild strength, stability, and confidence on your feet. Programs are individualized and progress as you do.

Yes. Kappu Raghunathan, PT has provided pelvic floor and women's health therapy for over 30 years — postpartum recovery, incontinence, perimenopause symptoms, and post-surgical pelvic care, all in a private, judgment-free setting.

Do you treat children?

Yes — we see pediatric patients for a range of conditions, including pelvic-floor concerns such as nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), encopresis, and incontinence, as well as orthopedic and sports-related issues. Care is delivered in a calm, kid-friendly setting with a parent present.
